Eye Diseases

Diagnosis and monitoring of conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, retinal disease and dry eye. Regular examination catches most problems before they cost sight.

Comprehensive Eye Examination The core examination, combining visual acuity, eye pressure, anterior segment and fundus assessment. Many eye conditions are first noticed here. 30-40 minutes Single appointment

Cataract Surgery Removing the lens of the eye once it has lost its clarity and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens. It is a day procedure under drop anaesthesia. 20-30 minutes A separate day per eye

Glaucoma Monitoring Measuring intraocular pressure, visual field and the optic nerve layer at regular intervals. Early detection is the only way to prevent sight loss. 30-45 minutes 2-4 reviews a year

Retinal Assessment Examining the retina and the macula with the pupil dilated, detailed where needed with layered imaging. 45-60 minutes Single appointment

Dry Eye Treatment Measuring the volume and quality of the tear film, caring for the lid margin and establishing a suitable drop routine. 25-35 minutes 2-3 appointments

Refractive Surgery

Procedures that reduce myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Who is suited to which method is decided through a detailed preliminary assessment.

Laser Vision Correction Reshaping the corneal surface with a laser to reduce myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Suitability is decided by a preliminary assessment. 15-20 minutes Single procedure

Intraocular Lens For high prescriptions unsuited to laser, a corrective lens is placed inside the eye while the natural lens is left in place. 20-30 minutes A separate day per eye

Keratoconus Care Following the thinning and forward steepening of the cornea through corneal mapping, and planning to halt its progression. 40-50 minutes A review every 6 months

Refraction Assessment Establishing the prescription with an autorefractor and trial lenses, confirmed with a cycloplegic measurement where needed. 20-30 minutes Single appointment

Optical Centre

Spectacle lenses, contact lenses, children’s eye care and low vision support. This is where a prescription moves from paper into daily use.

Spectacle Lens Fitting Choosing the lens type that suits the prescription, taking centring measurements and fitting them to the frame. Comfort is checked at handover. 30-40 minutes Selection and handover

Contact Lens Fitting Taking corneal measurements to establish the right lens type, teaching insertion and removal, and reviewing after the first week. 40-50 minutes 2 appointments

Children's Eye Care Screening for lazy eye, squint and hidden refractive error. A check before school age prevents problems that are hard to correct later. 30-40 minutes One review a year

Low Vision Support Where sight loss is permanent, magnifying systems and adjustments to contrast and lighting keep everyday tasks manageable. 50-60 minutes Assessment and fitting
